Dear valued customers,
I am excited to announce that our annual British Columbia Commercial Fishing Week (BCCFW) is back and better than ever. This year, our focus is on sustainability and the importance of responsible fishing practices in British Columbia. Unlike previous years, we will be promoting BCCFW for the entire month of February.
As many of you know, British Columbia is home to some of the most diverse and abundant marine life in the world. From Dungeness crab to albacore tuna, our waters are teeming with a wide variety of fish and shellfish. However, it is our responsibility as commercial fishermen and as a seafood retail company, to ensure that we are harvesting these resources in a sustainable manner.
At Fisherman’s Market, we believe that sustainable fishing is not only an environmental responsibility, but also an economic and social one.
Sustainability is something that we take very seriously at Fisherman’s Market. It means not only protecting the marine environment, but also preserving the livelihoods of our families and communities who rely on commercial fishing. We want to ensure that future generations will also be able to enjoy the same abundance of seafood that we have today.
British Columbians have long been leaders in sustainable fishing practices, and we are proud to continue that tradition. However, there is still work to be done. During BCCFW, we will be highlighting specific species and fishing techniques that are particularly sustainable. We will be releasing articles throughout the month of February, discussing the sustainable practices and techniques used to catch Dungeness crab, albacore tuna, sablefish/black cod, halibut, spot prawns, oysters and lingcod.
At Fisherman’s Market, we believe that sustainable fishing is not only an environmental responsibility, but also an economic and social one. It is our duty to ensure that the seafood we provide to our customers is not only delicious and high quality, but also responsibly and sustainably sourced.
We hope that you will join us in celebrating BCCFW and learning more about the importance of sustainable fishing in British Columbia. Thank you for your continued support and we look forward to serving you the best sustainably caught seafood in BC.
Sincerely,
Adam Pearl
